One Day to Nicaragua

Come with us to discover the Maquenque Wildlife Refuge, the San Juan River, and “El Castillo Fort” in Nicaragua.
Canoa Aventura will take you to enjoy new destinations, full of culture and history. We will visit the extensive mixed Wildlife Refuge of Maquenque that covers well over 150 acres of protected land, as well as the large Indian Corn Reserve in the historic town of El Castillo, Nicaragua.

The tour begins in La Fortuna, heading out for Hotel Maquenque Ecolodge in Boca Tapada, where we will enjoy a delicious breakfast. Then we will board a boat to navigate downstream through San Carlos River and upstream through the thrilling San Juan River, filled with exuberant natural beauty.

Once we arrive in El Castillo, we'll stop to enjoy an appetizing lunch. Then, we'll take a walk through the city to the main attraction- the Fortress of the Immaculate Conception. Just a few steps away from the entrance of the fortress, we will find a small museum displaying the town's history. We'll also observe the wide, beautiful view of the river, the powerful El Diablo rapid, and the surrounding jungles on the other side of the fortress.

We will then return to the boat to make our way back though San Juan and San Carlos Rivers to Maquenque Ecolodge, where our driver will be ready to take us back to La Fortuna.
